Bernard Hon教授是英国政府制造领域资深顾问，英国利物浦大学制造系统工程专业首席教授，也是国际生产工程研究院（CIRP）院士、英国工程技术院院士、制造系统工程领域国际知名学者、英国利物浦大学先进制造系统实验室主任。在制造系统工程研究领域发表论文100余篇，荣获6次皇家工程科学院客座教授称号，2次皇家工程科学院杰出国际研究员称号，英国国家工程和物理科学研究委员会（Engineeringand Physical Sciences Research Council, EPSRC）,基金评审组成员，连续3年出任EPSRC基金制造科学学部评审主席。Bernard Hon教授同时担任国内清华大学，南京大学，大连理工大学，南京航空航天大学等多所知名大学的荣誉教授，其主要研究方向：先进制造技术和可持续制造技术。  

报告摘要  

Innovations are critical for technology progress and wealthcreation. Innovations In manufacturing is not only vital for competition butalso imperative for the the long term business viability.  The basic issues of critical thinking anddifferent interpretations of innovation will be fully addressed.  Innovation is perceived as a key driver forachieving high value manufacturing which is national goal in the UK.  The central theme of this presentation willbe discussed under six main headings:process intensification, process substitution, interface betweendifferent disciplines, new philosophies, information and communicationtechnology and new grand challenges.Numerous examples on process and product innovation will be given toillustrate the proposition.
