讲座题目:《Graduate Education in an Era of AI, Digital Transformation, and Global Innovation》

Artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and global innovation are reshaping the knowledge and capabilities required of tomorrow’s graduates. This presentation explores how graduate education across engineering, computing, science, and management must evolve, emphasizing critical thinking, creativity, ethical judgment, continuous learning, and the ability to work across disciplinary, organizational, and national boundaries. Drawing on the long-standing Stevens-CUFE partnership, it considers how international collaboration can serve as a platform for graduate education, research, and innovation—ultimately cultivating technologically fluent, interdisciplinary, globally engaged, innovative, and ethically grounded graduates capable of creating and leading the future.

讲座题目:《From Innovation to Reinvention: Leading Organizational Transformation in the Age of AI》

Artificial intelligence and other rapidly advancing technologies are reshaping not only what organizations can do, but also how they must be designed, managed, and led. Drawing on research on digital transformation and examples from companies in China and other parts of the world, this keynote develops five paradoxes of organizational transformation: the more powerful technology becomes, the more organizational capability matters; the more machine intelligence we have, the more valuable human judgment becomes; the more autonomy we give machines, the more explicit accountability must become; the faster transformation becomes, the longer organizations may have to operate between old and new organizational states; and the more successful a transformation is, the greater the organization’s capacity to transform again. The keynote concludes with practical implications for leaders seeking not only to implement new technologies, but to build organizations capable of repeated reinvention.

讲座题目:《AI & The Future of Management: The Invisible Consequences of AI》

GJ de Vreede is Dean of the School of Business and a Professor of Information Systems at Stevens Institute of Technology. He co-founded the Collaboration Engineering research field and co-invented the thinkLet concept, and his research focuses on AI in teams and crowdsourcing. His work has appeared in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal of Management Information Systems.

As AI writing assistants become embedded in everyday practice, a critical question emerges: what happens to human development when machines absorb the struggle of revision? Drawing on Self-Determination Theory, this study (N = 206) compared self-editing with low and high AI contribution. Self-editing produced markedly greater gains in writer identity (M = 0.88 vs. 0.54 and 0.43) and in generalized self-efficacy (M = 0.41 vs. < 0.10), a pattern that held regardless of whether AI suggestions could be accepted or rejected. Notably, under AI assistance, experts showed weaker identity development—interpreted as defensive disengagement. The authors term this the“developmental bypass”: AI routes around the productive struggle that is essential to growth. They argue for a design principle of preserved struggle—scaffolded assistance that recedes as competence grows—and for institutional policies that protect developmental space as AI becomes more capable.

讲座题目:《From Developing Ourselves to Developing Our Organizations: Responsible Leadership for Sustainable Management》

Sustainability depends not only on sound strategies and technical expertise, but also on leaders capable of continually learning, acting responsibly, and helping their organizations adapt. Drawing on twenty years of leadership development within the CUFE–Stevens partnership, this keynote traces a developmental journey from“What am I like as a leader, and how do I get even better?”to“What is my organization like, and how do I help it become better?”It considers practical ways leaders can meet these challenges—understanding strengths and limitations, using feedback and reflection, making decisions consistent with their values, developing and including others, and shaping cultures that support performance and learning—and argues that these everyday practices are essential to building sustainable organizations that adapt, perform responsibly, and remain effective over time.
